The Walk

SUNDAY, 10/22/2017
7:15AM

The “Running for the bay!” Walk is held in beautiful Apalachicola, Florida. To be a walking participant, you simply select a race distance to enter and simply walk it instead of run it. There is no "disqualification" because you decided to walk instead of run. You'll be just as much a hero. In fact, many modern marathoners combine a "run" and "walk" strategy to achieve their best time. Many recreational athletes or retirees discover that a "Walk" is a wonderful way to re-discover their youth or achieve a goal they've always wanted to achieve.

The Finish Line

As you enter downtown and approach the finish line, the crowds will cheer and make you feel like doing another "Walk", albeit after a well deserved rest. Upon crossing the finish line, you’ll receive the same “Running by the bay!” medal given out to the other participants in your selected race. (No matter if you choose the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K or 5K race). You'll also have the rights to say, “You did it!” You’ve accomplished what only a few can do, enjoy the glory!

What race course should you choose?

Read the other pages about the Full Marathon (26.2 miles), the Half Marathon (13.1 miles), the 10K (6.2 miles), the 5K (3.1miles) and Ultra 50K (31 miles). The pages will explain each race and its course. You'll be entered as a regular runner, you'll just be walking the race instead of running the race.

Time limit: Course is open for all races for 8 hours!
